As I tell my 14-year-old son, “With privilege comes responsibility.” I believe being an Iowa resident during the presidential campaign is a huge privilege. We are courted by these candidates for almost a full year before our January caucuses. That gives us many opportunities to meet the men and women who want to lead our nation. We get to listen to their speeches, shake their hands, and look them in the eye as we try to get a feel for who they are as individuals. I love that about living in Iowa!
My full-time occupation is as a marketing manager for a small, privately-owned company that makes electrical safety products. I was educated at the University of Iowa and have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Someday, I’d like to return to school to get my law degree. For now, I focus on my son, my job and now, this Blog.
I’ve always loved attending political rallies. My first one was in the year 2000. My supervisor at the time, knowing how much I loved politics, offered me a free ticket to see then-candidate
After moving to Iowa, I was surprised by the difference in attendance a the rallies. Not only could I get close enough to see their faces, I actually got to meet these people who wanted to lead our nation! And, not only did I meet them, but I spoke with them, shared my concerns and beliefs, and asked them questions about what they wanted to do for our country. So, that’s why I’m doing this Blog. I attend these rallies anyway because that’s my passion, but I thought why not just take the rest of America with me.
